Are you a hunter? If so, you might want to consider taking a vacation to Florida at almost any time of the year and staying in one of their many hunting lodges.
Hunting is a big deal in Florida, as it's a warm state with a variety of different types of game. And almost any time you visit Florida, it's hunting season for something. There are even some animals that hunters can go after at any time, which many states don't allow.
Why set up a hunting lodge vacation? For one, it's a safe environment for hunters that may not have as much skill as other hunters. Two, many of these hunting lodges set up hunting seasons on their own. What they'll do is import certain types of game, such as turkeys or quail, then lead a group of hunters into those areas and guide them through the hunt. There's no guarantee that you'll bag anything; that's not the point. What you'll get is the experience of hunting in the natural habitat of an animal, a professional who will give you tips on how to hunt that animal, and the knowledge that you're pretty safe and don't have to worry about errant shots coming from out of the blue towards you.
Another reason for going on a hunting lodge vacation is that, if you can go with a group of friends, the costs will drastically drop. You get the experience of being in a lodge that will serve you great meals, sometimes cooking up the catch of the day, communing with your friends in evening activities, and they'll even package up what you shoot so that you can ship it back to wherever you live.
Of course there are things you need to know before you go. Florida's hunting rules aren't overly strict, but you will have to pay for a permit. They have a couple of different types of licenses you can pay for. You can pay for a license that lasts for a week, or you can pay for a license that lasts the entire season, if you plan on visiting more than once to hunt.
Also, if you're not used to the weather, or even if you are, you're going to want to bring a lot of protective covering. If you enter the swamps to go hunting for alligators or python (imagine that; hunting snakes), you'll want to protect yourself from all the little bugs and the intense heat at the same time. And, if you're not the type that likes hunting animals, most of the top lodges have what's known as sport shooting, where you'll be able to shoot at a variety of clays.
Finally, you'll also want to learn the rules for transporting guns and rifles across state lines. If you don't have guns, you can rent them at any of the lodges you happen to stay at.
