Handgun CHL...What To Carry? Revolver or Semi Auto - Sports

Concealed Carry permits (CHL) and people concealing a weapon are much more common than most people realize. Either a walk, to work, the store, or a concert, more people than you probably know are carrying a concealed handgun. In my opinion, getting a concealed carry permit is very good idea. There's no way the government can regulate and legislate safety (take Virginia Tech for example, a gun-free campus), so it's up to us as private citizens to stand up to aggressors or shooters. Someone who intends to shoot up a school or crowded place is far less likely to fire on a group if he knew that some people were concealing weapons, ready to shoot back. But if you are going to conceal a handgun, what is the best Concealed Carry Handgun to get? For this category, we've pickedselected the Glock 27 as the Best Concealed Carry Handgun on the market today. It was chosen because of its size, round, capacity, reliability / readiness and price.SizeThe Glock 27 is a sub-compact sized han dgun, which is probably the best and most popular size of a Gun to carry concealed. Many people associate pocket pistols with concealed guns, but the truth is they're usually too small to do a ton of damage because of their large recoil as well as difficulty of aiming. The compact sized handgun is a little bit big in my opinion for regular concealed carry on your person, as it would be more difficult to conceal (I'm 6'3" and 230 lbs and I think it's too big). That means the Sub-Compact is the perfect compromise of the small overall footprint, while being big enough to shoot and stop effectively. Lastly, because of the small overall size, they feel great in smaller hands, especially in women, and the recoil of the Glock 27 is not bad at all for weaker hands to control.RoundThe Glock 27 chambers a 40 cal (.40 S&W) round, which we have decided to be the Best Caliber for Concealed Carry. It has the stopping power of a .45 ACP round, while keeping the smaller size of the 9mm round. The round has great stopping power, especially when you use hollow point or other self-defense rounds. Some people think the 9mm round is the best round because of its price and availability, but I don't think the round is powerful enough for self-defense purposes.CapacityWhen you compare revolvers and semi auto pistols, the semi autos win by a landslide in overall capacity. Revolvers can only keep about 5-6 rounds, but semi auto pistols can hold much more. The Glock 27 comes with a standard 9 round magazine, and you buy magazines that have 11, 13, 15 and 17 round capacities. You probably won't be nearly as accurate when you actually do need to pull out your concealed weapon, because of the stress, rapid heartbeat, and a solid chance that it's dark outside. Because of those, you want as many rounds as you can hold. One of the worst things would be having 1 fewer round than you need. This Gun i s perfect for that, and if need a ton of rounds, changing the magazine is very quick and easy, especially compared to reloading a revolver.Reliability / ReadinessGlocks are traditionally known to be some of the most reliable guns on the market. They designed to be simple which makes them reliable in almost any circumstance. People have put the Glocks through ridiculous torture tests, and they have stood up to almost anything. They are also known for the safety being built into the trigger, which means no more worrying about a safety to hassle with when you need the Gun to function. If you pull the trigger, it will shoot.PriceAnother great thing about the Glock 27 is its price. There are many other guns that are great for concealed carry, and some of the top names in the industry (Kimber, H&K, SIG). All of those other brands are significantly more expensive than the Glock, so for the quality of Gun you get for the price, I'd buy two Glocks before one of the luxury brands. You can find them new for about $400-500 compared to a $800 H&K USP Compact.Bottom LineThe bottom line is that the Glock 27 is the Best Concealed Carry Handgun available. It's small enough to easily conceal, yet large enough to shoot powerfully and accurately when you really need it to. The .40 S&W cartridge is small enough to have a large magazine capacity, yet powerful enough to take down almost any attacker. The Glock is extremely reliable in any circumstance, and is ready to fire at any time, all for a quite reasonable price. For more articles like this, that determines the best handgun, the best Ammo, or the best holster in different categories and demands, please visit our website, Best-Handgun.com. Some of the sample articles include the Best Pistol Caliber, the Best Handgun for Women, and the Best Glock. Before you make a final CHL weapon selection you s hould shoot several types of weapons. Yes the Glock is one of the market leading handguns. If you are not comfortable with any Gun it is not a good Gun for you to carry. I recommend that you try the Glock, Try a 1911 also the rest of the market shoots a 1911 and they are also outstanding weapons. For Ladies you can have your 1911 chambered in 9MM and or for Men the 45 Cal is very popular. The 1911 has a slid lock and grip safety. The Glock has not safety and to me is a problem. On the 1911 the grip safety would be to difficult for young children to even be able to shoot the weapon. Unfortunately with the Glock there are countless accounts where children pick up the Glock and shoot a sibling or parent. Yes obviously you do not leave your weapons unsecured but it happens and just consider the simplicity and safety of the 1911's. The 1911s traditionally have greater accuracy and due to the action an d triggers vs. the Glock.Either way you need to be comfortable with your weapon selection and need training. Train with a reputable group that will teach you how to safely operate the weapon. Also having a CHL is the most serious responsibility. You must know the laws and how to successfully operate your weapon in the even you need to deploy deadly force. So select the weapon that you are comfortable with and then train on how to successfully operate in usage of deadly force.

However, you might need to purchase your pants or jeans with the holster and handgun in mind - or you might not be able to fit your belly and your holster in the pants. I've had this happen. :)

Five Things That Happen at World Cups - Sports

1). So called experts write off Germany Like night follows day, death and taxes, rain in Manchester and regretting eating a McDonalds a matter of minutes after consuming it, every time the hoopla that is the World Cup rolls around the world over (except in the Fatherland of course, where their confidence in their national team sensibly never wavers) without fail journalists, pundits and general footballing know-it-alls go out of their way to write off the Germans - EVERY... SINGLE... TIME. And like a riled up snake the Germans always, always snap back and prove all those foolish soothsayers wrong. Let's look at the stats: In the last seven tournaments they've made the quarter-finals at the very least, finishing runners-up three times and winners twice. Yet as the reams of build up coverage were spewed out in the build up to the start of the current tournament - they were at it again, maddeningly writing the chances of the formidable German team off - do they not understand succeeding at a major football tournament is intrinsic to their genetic make-up. So what happens next? They go and thump Australia 4-0 with easily the best performance of the group stage so far. Rest assured when 2014 rolls around, the hot-air blowers will be at it again mind!

2). An unknown striker takes the tournament by storm, is signed for an over-inflated fee, subsequently flopping

The World Cup - the greatest sporting stage you can take to. Your chance to stamp your authority on the tournament, grab the headlines, put your name in lights etc, etc. But perhaps the biggest spin-off garnered from making a splash at the festival of football is landing a lucrative move into the big-time, i.e. a post-tournament transfer. As, with the world's media, scouting network and managerial eyes all trained on every pass, shot and tackle, it's your chance to well and truly put yourself in the shop window with a view to a big money move to a top European team. Check out the Online Shopping Mall. At the last World Cup in Germany, the hosts unveiled a goal-scoring gem in Lukas Podolski. As well as scoring three goals the Polish-born forward waltzed off with the Young Player of the Tournament award before joining up with his new teammates at Bayern Munich. Sadly this move didn't work out well for the striker and he rejoined Kln in 2009 (he kept banging them in for Germ any though). The reason? Another expensive World Cup flop, Italian Luca Toni. The towering striker's two goals also secured him a move to Bayern. He too flopped and was loaned to Roma. In 2002 it was the turn of the Senegal players to shine, in particular El Hadj Diouf and Salif Diao. Both were snapped up by Liverpool's then manager Gerard Houllier but after an impressive tournament, both soon fell out of favour and were shipped off to mighty football giants Bolton and Portsmouth respectively. This was small fry compared to the USA '94 though, which was positively littered with soon-to-be big money flops. From Ukrainian Oleg 'I scored five goals in a game, dontchaknow' Salenko, whose exploits won him a short-lived move to Valencia, Tomas Brolin - who followed up his exploits in Euro '92 with another three goals in America and eventually wound up as bloated as his salary at Leeds United to Daniel Amokachi. The bulky Nigerian powerhouse netted twice in the tournament convinci ng Everton to splash out him, his two-year stint was relatively uneventful though and he was soon shipped off to Besiktas. So keep 'em peeled footy fans and see if you can spot World Cup 2010's future flops-in-the-making!3). England's preparations are rocked by a late big name injury

For England fans this is depressingly recurrent theme of the build up to every major tournament. With everything going to plan, confidence and excitement building and predictions of finals being made spouted by the public and media alike, a training ground tackle, Premier League foul or Gazza-shaped mishap will throw a World Cup-shaped spanner in the works, jeopardising everything. From Trevor Brooking and Kevin Keegan's injury struggles in Spain '82 to the loss of captain Bryan Robson in Mexico '86 and Italia '90 (the latter, it was subsequently revealed was the result of some bedroom tomfoolery involving Paul 'daft as a brush' Gascoigne, a bed post and the midfielder's unprotected foot) to David Beckham's metatarsal in 2002 (Uri Geller promising to heal it on GMTV anybody?) and Michael Owen's horrific pitch side breakdown in 2006. This time out, the injuries (Ashley Cole, Glen Johnson, Wayne Rooney) all came recoverably early, so it was sighs of relief all-round when they all made it back in plenty of time. Of course the curse was to strike again though when key holding midfielder Gareth Barry broke down with a ligament injury in the penultimate game of the season and Rio Ferdinand was crocked by Emile Heskey in training - doh! At least there wasn't a metatarsal injury to feverishly worry over this time out though.4). Speculation that the stadiums won't be ready in time

With the Christmas season out the way and as one year ends and another World Cup year dawns all the media, with little else to write about until squads are named and games commence, can muse over it seems is if the stadiums will be ready or not. February, March, April and May are generally dominated by over-zealous analysis concerning whether or not the host nation will get their act together and finish all the new stadiums that will house all the games during the tournament (except of course in 2006 when it was in Germany, nobody doubted for a nano-second that they'd be ready!). This time out, the South African FA really got it in the neck on a daily basis, with Sky Sports News et al going to town in their reports. What wasn't really mentioned was they'd already held an extremely successful Rugby World Cup, various high profile cricket competitions and the Confederations football tournament in preparation, but alas it seems because they're a relative footballing outpost they might fall down in the logistics stakes. So far the stadiums and pitches (Wembley take note - lay then pitch and then build the stadium, not vice versa you fools!) have looked magnificent - if a little empty in certain cases. Why leftover tickets weren't handed out to locals for the South Korea v Greece game to fill up the stadium and engender a better atmosphere is anybody guess. Then that's the enigma that is FIFA!5). The Dutch go out on penalties If there is one nation who give the English a run for their money for the 'rubbish at penalty shoot-outs' crown it's Holland. In fact so bad are the Oranje in the ultimate challenge of nerve, technique, bottle and more bottle they make England's pitiful track record of messing up at penalties decidedly average. Let first take a look at their roll call of shame before debating their chances this time out. It started in Sweden in 1992 when late Yugoslavia replacements and eventual shock winners Denmark nervelessly dispatched all five of their spot-kicks leaving a living legend (like Italy's Roberto Baggio two years later) to look a fool, namely Marco van Basten. Four years on and it Clarence Seedorf's turn to face the shame, drawing a blank (or should that be blanc?) against the French. And if they thought hosting a competition would provide them with penalty solace they were mistaken, failing miserably against Italy at the quarter-final stage in 2000 with three misses (plus, even more remarkably, two misses during the game to boot!). And their misery isn't just confided to the Euros either with a heart-wrenching loss to future World Cup finalists Brazil in 1998.

They did finally win a penalty shoot-out at Euro 2004, beating Sweden 5-4 to reach the semi-finals. But, as I'm sure you'll agree, it's quite a catalogue of penalty shoot-out slip-ups. So what of South Africa in 2010, well the omens are a little better that's for sure. Thanks to now possessing two players who Robbie Earle would no doubt tag as footballers who 'go cool in hot situations' (who asked you Captain Journeyman?) in Dirk Kuyt and Robin van Persie - namely expert, reliable spot-kickers - the Flying Dutchmen shouldn't crash and burn quite as easily if the score's still level after 120 minutes (unless they meet their arch nemesis and hotshot penalty kings Germany that is, then they're really in trouble!)./world_cup_facts.html

Does it have a wire or an etched reticle- a wire reticle can be knocked out of place making the scope unusable? The multiple brightness settings are present in some reticles that have red or green illumination.

With the high intensity flashlights the green color light doesnt cause the night blindness as they are soothing to the human eyes. The high power green laser lights reflect intensely from the eyes of the animals and so, they are used in the night hunting or game spotting. You must know in detail whether the laser emissions are harmful to the eyes and the green lights are compatible with all the generation of night vision devices.

It is important to know whether a firm grip is provided by the power ring and the parallax. Are they built primarily for use in daylight and in low light conditions or for law enforcement and military applications?

When you are buying the scope then you must check the warranty period, whether they have the chances to repair and replace. The cost will not matter if you do not know how to use the scope. Only with the practice you can be safe.

Choose Your New Scope Carefully - Outdoors - Hunting

If you are looking to buy a new hunting scope then you will need to take in a lot of factors.

Some of the best rifle scope brands are those that have been well tested and used by consumers and have received the reviews. However each person is different and whilst some of the best scopes are great for professionals, if you are a beginner or intermediate they might not address all your needs.

For example if you are looking for the best scope for deer hunting then one developed for varmints is not going to be of any use to you. It may be the model for rabbits but when it comes to large animals or game then you need a scope that is specifically tailored for that purpose.

Also think about what sort of conditions you will be hunting in. Depending on the terrain you could choose a scope that is more suitable for specific types of country as in open terrain or in highly dense forests. Some of the best are great for certain purposes but not for others. You may want to look at a scope that has a variable power to enable you to hunt in various terrains if you think this is how you will be hunting.

Also the weather is another major factor, when purchasing. Some optic sights now have anti fog lenses and are waterproof so if you are out hunting in the rainy season or depending on which state you live in you should also consider if you need this optional benefit.

Most rifles scope reviews will detail all the necessary information you are looking for when you buy a particular brand, but take into account the requirements of your hunting ability, knowledge and skill when buying a rifle scope and you should be able to get the best rifle scope for your money.

It is also important to remember that when buying a new scope that you must look for the best quality you can afford. If you are looking to only spend a few dollars then you are not going to get the scope and the cheaper models tend not to be fit for many uses without causing you lots of problems. It really is worth spending on a good quality model to ensure you get the results you want when you're out hunting.

If you enjoy hunting then you will know that the addition of a new scope to your rifle is major consideration certainly not something to be taken lightly. Make sure you shop around and compare models and makes so you get what suits you best.

What to look for in a Rifle Scope - Outdoors - Hunting

Rifle Scopes for Competition Tactical Hunting Hand Gun

Not sure what you really want or need when looking for your first hunting scope? They make entry-level riflescopes created for hunters on a budget. Educate yourself and look at how you think you will be hunting. Big game hunting like elk or bear, or will you be hunting pheasant and birds, rabbit or other small game? There is nothing wrong when you purchase your first hunting scope to go with inexpensive optics. Go hunting, is this something you enjoyed, hunting is not for everyone. So give it a try, don't deck yourself out with all the latest and greatest hunting gear only to find out this was not for you. If you find out on the other hand you really enjoyed shooting and hunting then look for the features that make shooting more pleasurable. Decide what your sport will be, competition shooting, hand Gun, varmint hunting, or big game, tactical?

The more features you have in a rifle scope the more expensive it will be obviously. Most optics will have the standard features such as waterproof and fog proof, but may not be shock proof. Does it have a wire or an etched reticle a wire reticle can be knocked out of place making the scope unusable? Some reticles offer to illuminate red or green with multiple brightness settings. Green is the easiest light or color for the human eye to see and causes no typical "night blindness" associated with standard or high intensity flashlights. High power green laser light reflects intensely off the eyes of animals allowing quick detection this works well for both night hunting and game spotting. Is it compatible with every generation of night vision devices? Is there laser emission that could be harmful to your eyes?Camera quality glass is offered on some models. How the scope is mounted, by rings, rail and does the scope have the mounting system built in or is it separate? Weight is always a concern yet you want it to be rugged and of durable construction.

Is the rifle scope built for the intended purpose, rifles, carbines, shotguns, or handguns? Trying to adapt a scope to something it is not intended to be use for is trouble waiting to happen. Do the power ring and parallax adjust ring provide a firm, no-nonsense grip relief grooves? Are they built primarily for use in daylight and in low light conditions or for law enforcement and military applications? Any hazardous materials, nitrogen filled, built-in sunshade, scope covers? What is the warranty, limited, lifetime, replacement, repair?

As always it does not matter how much you're optics cost if you don't know how and when to use them. Practice makes perfect, knowing your equipment makes it safe, and everyone making it safely home should be in everyone sight.

The Extraordinary Fun in Deer Hunting - Outdoors - Hunting

Why do people deer hunt? More likely, you will get different answers. Probably, most of them will say that they hunt for fun and sports while others do it for food. Those are the two most common answers you can squeeze out for that single question. Different hunters use a variety of weapons too, a bow, rifle or a shot Gun. But whatever Gun you use or whatever was your purpose for hunting, there's going one result only--- meat on the table! - One of the things people sometimes forget when they go deer hunting is that the main purpose of doing so is to have fun.

To effectively hunt for the buck, one should have all the necessary things a hunter needs for hunting. Perhaps, one the most important thing that you need to prepare is your weapon for hunting that big deer like what type of Firearm is allowed, and more. For example, your local area may only allow slug guns and excludes rifles. The reason for this may vary, but it's probably because there are many houses in the surrounding area. A rifle bullet can travel quite far, and they may deem that more dangerous. A slug from a shotgun does not go as far, so it's considered safer. Rifles may be allowed in your region, but specific areas within the region may not allow the use of a rifle. A bow and a slug Gun may only be allowed. Every hunter needs to be aware of whether an area is private property or not as well...Always ask permission to hunt on private property.

In my state, rifles are allowed and I have quite a few number of them. I make sure I have a rifle scope attached to it. That's what I do every time I go hunting. Scopes are very important for the hunters. Scopes like this one make our job easy and it will probably make your next hunt a bit easier, too. Redfield Scope is a no ordinary scope that I mount in my gear. This kind of scopes has high power for long shots in wide-open spaces, cutovers, clear-cuts and bean fields. Large objective squeezes a little extra light out of dawn, dusk, or when the weather turns. I'd say scopes are very hepful. It sees your buck, and targets your buck. No searching for the visual sweet spot when time is critical. Redfield Scopes are worth mentioning here.Hunting deer requires more than just going out to hunt and shoot them. A lot of preparation can be done to further your success. Now, it may depend on an individual's goals. Some hunters just enjoy hunting casually. Others are a bit more se rious, and prepare more. There's nothing wrong with being a casual hunter or a serious hunter. When I say serious, I am referring to people who have bigger goals and really want to succeed. The casual hunter may just be happy to go out and enjoy hunting for what it is. Either one is fine, but some things are required of both types of hunters. Both should be responsible when hunting. This means they should follow the state laws.

When talking about deer hunting, a sports hunter will always aim to get the buck with the biggest rack. Most people hunt only for sport and they find real enjoyment on this outdoor adventure while others hunt for food. Even though most hunter's purpose for hunting is to have fun, they also bring a lot of meat for their family table. Nowadays, if hunting is for providing food for the family or survival, It may seem like a cavemen for some but sure a lot of hunters do this. No matter why a hunter hunts, whether it is fun or for consumption, one way or the other, it always brings them these results: good meat for the table, cheaper way to fill the fridge, less populated forest and the extraordinary experience of hunting.

Do You Believe in the Karate Myth? You Could Be Betting Your Life on the Answer! - Sports - Martial Arts

Have you ever heard of, what I call, "the karate myth?" This is something that I talk about quite a bit, and something that other martial arts instructors don't like to hear about. And, if you're serious about developing real skill in the science of self defense, then you must make sure that you are not falling victim to it. In fact, if you believe in the same karate myth that has many well intentioned martial artists deluded and blinded, then you could be betting your life on whether what you've actually learned will work when you need it most.

What is the karate myth?

Let me ask you a question. When you think of learning self defense, who do you think of learning it from?

For most of us, it's a black belt martial arts instructor. Unless you have some aversion to some aspect of martial arts training, you, like most people may have already fallen into the trap of this dangerous illusion.

What I'm talking about is the assumption that a person who wears a black belt...

...can actually teach you how to defend yourself in a real world attack situation against a brutal assailant who wants to damage you or worse.

I know how that sounds. In fact, you might be wondering, "isn't that what a black belt means?"

And, the answer is... Not necessarily.

In fact, in the Warrior Concepts' Mastery Program, founded on the art of Ninjutsu, a student is not considered to be able to defend against a real-world attacker throwing anything he wants - until 2nd degree Black Belt!

You see, not every martial art is designed for self protection or combat.

Surprised? I know how you feel. Because I once believed that anyone wearing a black belt was a master in self defense. And then I found out the truth that...it just isn't so. He or she may have mastered the skills, kata, and requirements for their particular system or "style," but that says nothing about whether or not they know what they must in order to survive a brutal encounter where there are no rules, no discipline, respect or sense of "fair play."

You see, there are many reasons for which a person can earn a black belt in a particular martial art. Add to this the fact that there are different approaches to teaching, and more than one focus for those training in any given martial art. Some of these reasons for training include:

1) Training for sport competition. The skills learned and practiced here will tend to lean toward allowing the practitioner to be successful in a contest. I have actually demonstrated a simple shift of my knees to slip a punch and been told by one of these folks that anything I do afterwards doesn't count "because they actually hit me!"

How is this possible?

Because in the sport competitions, the "strike zone" extends beyond the actual target - in this case anything over the shoulders counts as a head shot - and therefore is treated as though the punch actually landed when in fact it didn't.

2) Training for spiritual development. The training in this type of program can be more like engaging in moving meditation practice. Here, the practitioner goes through his kata with his eyes and concentration on his extended hand, kick, or moving body part. NOT on an attacker and his immediate surroundings - where it "should" be if you're focusing on surviving a brutal attack.

3) Empowerment and personal development results. Often students and instructors can forgo the combat elements of martial arts training and focus instead on the development of success and life traits - traits like:

Confidence Discipline Improved self esteem Respect Etc.

The martial arts have a long history of helping practitioners to develop these skills. That's not the problem. The problem lies in the fact that students can often be lead to believe that they are actually skilled in self defense when in reality they were allowed to "feel" powerful because they learned some skills.

4) Physical skill and prowess. Believe it or not but, some of the most famous martial arts celebrities of movies and television...

...were never trained as martial artists!

It's true. In fact, several well-known actors were trained in Hong Kong or China where they were enrolled into schools that focused on training stunt people and martial arts actors.

Many martial arts are designed more for the physical skill ability, than for actual combat or physical self protection.

5) Self-preservation and safety. For a martial art to claim to be teaching self-preservation and personal safety - as a primary focus and not an add-on benefit - there are very specific lessons that must be a part of the program. Some of these lessons include:

Strategic thinking Human physiology and the use of strong points against weak A "no-rule" philosophy Non-combatives training to reduce or avoid the need for fighting at all Drills and exercises that focus on concepts and principles rather than preset techniques Training for "unfair" situations including defending against bigger, faster, better skilled, and multiple attackers

Having a black belt in a sport-oriented martial system that regularly competes in a rule-laden contest with rules, referees, and safety mechanisms is a far cry from the reality of a life-threatening attack. I'm not saying that the sport martial artist, or any of the others listed above, can't defend himself. Then again, I wouldn't say that a high school wrestler couldn't defend himself either.

What I am saying is that his focus on, and consistent training that relies on elements that won't be present in a dangerous encounter will actually put him at a disadvantage! This is so because it's not what he's training for.

Effective self defense requires more than just a few "karate moves." It involves the ability to think strategically, and understand how to defend yourself with as little wear-and-tear on you as possible. For more information on what you MUST know to survive a real street attack, read my newest self defense book: "Fight Smarter - Not Harder!" How to Build a good hunting knife - Outdoors - Hunting

It is easy to make a hunting knife if you have the all the right materials. To build a hunting knife all you need are a get started book on how to build our hunting knife, an electric gas torch but ordinary gas torch will do, a wheel and belt grinder with various grit belt which are about 40, 80 and 120 grit belts, cardboard, steel marker pencils, and steel sheet that is made from carbon steel that you can normally get from scrap yards, which will be use for blade part.

I will be discussing with you the quick guide to begin creating your own blade metal knife. But before that you must know that there are two basic parts of hunting knifes which are the handle that grips the blade and the metal blade. You need to secure a right type of metal to use that is hard as the carbon steel; though you need a little a amount of carbon steel for carving.

Hunter should have an idea what would the design be for their knife before creating it. Designing is also a time of trying out and experimenting. Draw your design in a paper and choose the best design you made. Draw the actual size and dimension of the chosen design on a cardboard and then cut it out. Use it to try if you are satisfied with your designOnce you are satisfied with your design, place your design on the steel sheet and trace to create an outline. You need to draw another outline imitating the design which is one eight inch far from the original outline. Imagine this how your outline looks like, the original outline or actual design is inside the bigger or the second outline. This is the time in which you cut and sharpen mistakes made by removing the extra.

Use either a band saw or gas torch for cutting out the blade however using band saw needs more hard work that using gas torch. Use gas torch to cut by following the outline on the steel sheet but don't forget to leave at either one enough portion for the handle to fit in.

After cutting out the blade you need to grind and sharpen to distinguish the quality of the knife's edge. Evenly grind the end of the blade using wheel grinder and then polish it surfaces. After that, sharpen and polish more the edges of the knife by using belt grinder. You will begin with 40 grit belt then re grind with 80 grit belt to remove the marks and the last process would be for 120 grit belt.

To give your knife its durability you need to harden the blade of your knife to remove impurities and brittleness. To harden your blade all you have to do is to heat the blade in a red, high, and hot temperature and after heating let it cool off naturally. The heating is done using either torch or electric kiln but electric kiln is still the best source of heat for hardening knife blade.

The blade is ready for usage once it's the blade is already on a normal temperature. You can re grind it again with 120-grit size or higher, for some remaining irregularities. Then put the leather sheath, strong handle to grip the blade strongly and other remaining accessories for the knife. The Handy Dandy Hunting Knife - Outdoors

When it comes to hunting, there is no greater tool than the trusty hunting knife. It comes in various shapes and sizes and performs a number of handy services when out in the field. Contrary to the image of characters found in some movies, it is not necessary to carry the largest, most intimidating blade available. A good hunting knife is sturdy, efficient and is the ideal weight and size for the type of game hunted. Those who select a large blade are likely to find it cumbersome and unrealistic for their actual needs. While there are many shapes, models and brands to choose from, there are certain aspects to consider when choosing the perfect knife.

The average hunting knife will be made of either carbon or stainless steel. Carbon blades are known for being sharp and also easy to sharpen. Stainless steel blades are also sharp but keeping them that way can be slightly harder. However, between these two types of blades, carbon is more likely to rust and will require greater care. Most knives are made of stainless steel and are therefore commonly found in use among hunters. While a carbon blade will be easier to keep sharp out in the field, there are times when a knife is exposed to moisture during the hunt. Since it can be some time before the hunter is able to get where he or she can give the blade a proper cleaning, many opt for the stainless steel blade.

A hunting knife can come with a fixed blade or with a foldable blade, such as that of a pocket knife. While a fixed blade will be sturdier and more appropriate for the task of heavy cutting, a foldable blade is compact and likely has other useful tools, such as a saw blade. A fixed blade will need a sheath and must be carried on a belt or in a hunter's pack. A pocket knife can be conveniently carried at all times, whether one is out in the field or out in the supermarket. For the most part, pocket knives are used to handle the small tasks that pop up during the hunt, while the fixed blade is used for cleaning and skinning game.

The shape of the blades is also something to consider when picking out a hunting knife. The two most common shapes are the clip point and the drop point. For the heavy tasks, most hunters choose a knife with a drop point. A knife with a clip point is similar to the drop point; however, the blade is much thinner and has more of a tapered point. In the strictest sense, knives that have a clip point aren't always the best option to use as a game knife. A clip point is the perfect weight and size to handle menial tasks about the camp, such as simple rope cutting tasks.

What's the Difference Between a Hunting Knife and a Bowie Knife? - Outdoors

Understanding the difference between hunting knives and bowie knives can be a little difficult. Part of this is because bowie knives ARE hunting knives, at least to some extent. However, you'll find a much wider range of blade shapes in hunting knives that you will with bowies. What will you find? Is a hunting knife or a bowie the best choice for your needs? While only you can answer that question with any accuracy, you'll find the information here helps a bit.

First, standard hunting knives tend to be designed for a single use. Take the skinning knife for example. These have long, slim, razor-sharp blades. They are powerful tools when used for their intended purpose (skinning animals). However, how do you think that blade would hold up if you tried to chop with it? What if you encountered a bone or tough sinews? Would the skinning knife be able to handle the increased pressure and abuse? Chances are the knife would not be suited for any purpose other than skinning.

Now, a bowie knife on the other hand, is designed for many different uses. Originally, the bowie knife was designed for personal protection, as well as general-purpose use in camping, hunting and fishing. This is why the blade is so large and thick - it has to be to deal with such a wide variety of different uses. While you will find that specialty knives do a better job in their very specific field, a bowie knife will outperform other knives, simply because you can use it for such a wide range of different things. You can skin with them, chop brush, gut fish, chop vegetables, cut through bone and more.

However, bowie knives have a uniquely shaped blade that allows them to function just as well whether you're using them to skin, gut, clean or cut fruit. So, bowie knives, while a well-known factor in the hunting world, are not used solely for any one particular purpose. This means that the purchase of such a knife will ensure that you have numerous benefits.

Therefore, bowie knives differ from hunting knives in size, design and intended usage. While a hunting knife is usually only a single-use tool, you'll find far more benefits with a bowie. This is because a single knife can be used for multiple needs, ensuring that you don't need to carry several different blades with you all the time.

Actually, if you do different types of hunting, or intend to take your knife on other outdoor adventures, for instance fishing or camping trips, then you may even need more than one knife to satisfy the requirements of those activities.

First, you'll have to settle on whether you are likely to need a folding or fixed blade hunting knife. For ardent fishers and hunters who plan to do a lot of cleaning in the wilds, a fixed blade is usually the better choice. The reason is that a fixed blade tends to be stronger, more convenient to clean up after using it, and is more durable than a folding knife.

Secondly, you have to select the profile of the blade which will make the knife the best option for your endeavors. The most widespread shapes of hunting blades are skinners, drop points and clip points. Skinner blades are created to gut and skin game, however, they're not as good at a number of other tasks. Drop point knives may also be utilized to skin carcasses, and also for more wide-ranging tasks, which may be useful in various situations. Clip point blades are typically utilized for wood crafting uses, and also all-purpose uses, but they're not the best for hunting.

Third, you should settle on the type of steel that the blade is made from. You can find several different types of metal alloys used at this time for the production of fixed and folding knives. Each kind of steel has different strong points and features that establish how strong, resilient and rustproof it is.

Fourth, you will need to consider other aspects of knives, in order to get the best hunting knife for your specific requirements. Choose the best handle size and handle material that feels good in your hand, the right blade guards and a sheath that is appropriate for your use of the hunting knife. With these things in mind, you should be able to make the best possible decision as you shop among the best made hunting knives available today.

Before you take that first step out into the woods or field you what to gather the gear needed it will do you no go it you left it at the hunting lodge or worse back home. If you have an successful bird, rabbit, squirrel or any small game, deer, mountain sheep, bear, elk or moose hunt you will need one of the most important gear in you pack or you may think that it is so important that you carry it on your side and that would be your Hunting knife.

You may need your knife for skinning the cape of that trophy mount you have been hunting a lifetime for. Now that you have your prize mount readied for the taxidermist you will need to prepare the meat cutting it into steaks, cubes and de-boning the rest for ground meat or patties to cook. While you are using your hunting knife for all of these activities you may need to sharpen it from time to time so that you can complete the task preparing the meat and not be slowed down cause of a dull knife. Choosing Between a Fixed or Folding Hunting Knife - Outdoors - Hunting

The decision when choosing a hunting knife can be a daunting one; especially if it's your first time purchasing a quality knife that you intend to carry long term. There's an overwhelming selection out there. One of the first things you can do to narrow down your choices is to decide whether you want a folding or fixed-blade knife. Here are some things to consider when deciding between a folding and fixed blade knife. You can then weigh this against your personal preferences and expected use.

Folding Knives

The main advantage of a folding, or pocket knife, is that the blade can be folded into the handle and be safely and easily carried in a pocket or pack. There are countless styles of folding knives which offer different specialty features, such as multiple blade styles or even integrated LED lights. If you think a folding knife is right for you, you may consider getting one in the form of a multi-tool. Multi-tools generally feature a folding knife blade, along with items like pliers, files, saws and other useful tools tucked into the handle.

If you want a knife to carry for more things than just hunting and the deep outdoors, folding sporting knives are generally more convenient and versatile when traveling or running around town. If you don't mind a little more bulk for the bonus of a lot more utility, multi-tools feature all kinds of tools you may find useful.

A disadvantage of a folding knife is that, as a general rule, anything with moving parts will not be as strong as a similar item without them. The main weak point of a folding knife is the point where the blade attaches to the handle, because it has to pivot. Also, since the handle needs to accommodate a folding blade, it can't be as solid as the handle of a fixed-blade knife.

Fixed-Blade Knives

When people think of hunting knives, they generally think of a fixed-blade knife. Fixed-blade knives do not include an integrated means of covering the blade; they require a separate sheath and have no moving parts. This simplicity generally makes them stronger than comparable folding sporting knives. The average fixed-bladed knives also feature longer blades than folding knives. For these reasons, a fixed-blade knife is often the better choice for a dedicated hunting knife.

A disadvantage of fixed-blade hunting knives is that they are often larger and bulkier than a folding knife. They are also not as convenient to store and carry; while you can tuck a folding knife into a pocket or clip one onto a belt, a fixed-blade knife requires a separate sheath, usually attached to your belt.

Fixed blade hunting knives are generally preferred by serious hunters and outdoorsmen who spend a lot of time in the remote wilderness. Their strength and blade length is ideal for field dressing large game. In survival situations, where you may need to depend on your knife for things like cutting wood or making other tools, strength and reliability are paramount. This often makes them the tool of choice for more serious outdoor situations.

It all comes down to how you plan to use it. For a casual carry knife, with the occasional hunting or camping trip, a folding blade is often preferred for its convenience. For serious hunters and outdoorsmen, a fixed blade's strength, reliability and size often make it the knife of choice.

If you decide to go with a one, pay extra attention to the area where the blade meets the handle. The fit and finish here is often a good indicator of the knife's overall construction quality. For a folding knife, try a few to compare their function. The blade should lock up tight when open without wiggling, and feel like a single solid piece. It should also easily fold back into the handle without being forced. For either type, examine the handle to ensure that it's solid and made of a strong material, like high-quality steel.

A Look at Hunting Knife Sharpeners - Outdoors - Camping

Humans are wild for tools - which is understandable, since the use of tools is our genetic advantage over all other species on the planet. People love to have specific gadgets for different purposes; they may even have several different varieties of the same tool. Knife sharpening tools are no exception to this rule; there are several different types of knife sharpeners on the market. Each category of sharpener has its own strengths and weaknesses, as outlined below. If you own a hunting knife or any number of other high-performance knives, you'll want to be familiar with the different types of sharpeners so as to understand which is best for your needs.WhetstoneSharpening stones, also called whetstones, are versatile and effective hunting knife sharpening tools. Composed of extremely tough material such as diamonds, silicone dioxide or ceramics, sharpening stones are powerful enough to take quite a bit of material off of a kitchen or hunting knife. This is a good thing fo r extremely dull knives; however, inexperienced sharpeners can wind up removing too much material with a whetstone. Hunting knives, like all knives, can be ruined if too much steel is removed from the edge, so make sure you have a strong understanding of how to use your whetstone if you select this type of sharpening tool.Professional knife sharpeners recommend sharpening stones because they are available in a several grades: hard, medium or soft. Switching between different grades of whetstones allows expert sharpeners to work toward an ever-sharper blade. One specific variety of whetstone is a carborundum sharpening stone, which is composed of silicon carbide. As the carborundum stone is used, the carbide slowly wears away. Carborundum sharpening stones usually have a rough side for initial knife sharpening and a smooth side for finishing the blade once it's been sharpened.Another type of whetstone is composed of natural stone; this is the kind of sharpening tool our ances tors wore around their necks for honing their hunting knives on the fly. However, because most modern wielders of knives aren't experts in sharpening with natural stones, it is not recommended that you choose this kind of whetstone for sharpening your hunting knife. One final advantage of whetstones: They can be used to sharpen other objects, as well, such as scissors.Sharpening SteelSharpening steels are not actually meant for sharpening knives; rather, they simply bend the edge of the knife back into place temporarily. As a kitchen or hunting knife is used, the edge of the blade folds over in a sporadic way, leading to dullness. Chefs and other knife connoisseurs use sharpening steels to "fold back" their knives' edges between full-on sharpening sessions. Sharpening steels are usually composed of a rod of steel with a handle at the bottom.Knife HoneKnife hones are very similar to sharpening steels in that they act as a stopgap for increasing sharpness between full-on sharpe nings. Knife hones are available in various sizes and styles; one design offers slots you can run your hunting knife through to sharpen it.Electric Knife SharpenerElectric knife sharpeners are beloved by many for their convenience; however, hunting knife experts often claim that electric knife sharpeners are too ham-handed for sharpening tactical and hunting knives. Basically, an electric knife sharpener looks like a box with three or four slots in the top. The blade of the cooking or hunting knife is placed in one of these slots, and the machine's electrical components turn an internal wheel, which sharpens the edge of the knife.Benefits of electric knife sharpeners include the fact that they are convenient and fast; however, they work best for kitchen knives and may not be able to provide the kind of sharp edge hunting knives require. Avid chefs appreciate how electric knife sharpeners can sharpen serrated knives as well as smooth blades.Ultimately, the best way to sharpen your knives is to take them to a professional knife sharpener. Assuming you use them regularly, it is wise to take your hunting knives to a pro sharpening shop at least once a year. While the tools listed above can allow you to maintain your knives over the course of the year, only a professional knife sharpener will be able to get the kind of perfect blade every hunting knife should have.

How should you sell celebrity photographs? - Hobbies - Photography

Selling celebrity photographs can be fun and lucrative. Here is my step-by-step way to take and sell valuable celebrity pictures.

1. Purchase a camera that is of high qualityWhile any celebrity photo can sell for a lot of dough depending on the celeb, circumstances, and cover-worthiness, low quality photographs are not as valuable as high resolution pictures. As a rule, you will need to take your celebrity photographs with a camera that has at least 5 megapixels to be worthy of being published in magazines and/or tabloids. The great news is that it is easier to be a part of the paparazzi world today, thanks to advances in camera and cell phone technologies. Most cell phones are equipped with cameras that are over 5 megapixels - meaning now even cellphones can shoot celebrity photos that are magazine worthy. For example, here is a list of some of today's most popular smartphones and the number of megapixels their cameras feature:

iPhone 4S - 8MPiPhone 4 - 5MPHTC Thunderbolt - 8MPSamsung Nexus S 4G - 5MPMotorola Atrix - 5MPHTC EVO 4G - 8MPSamsung Infuse 4G - 8MPSamsung Galaxy S - 5MP

Feel free to go overboard and purchase a camera with all the bells and whistles if you want to have more features at your fingertips (e.g. histograms, automatic exposure bracketing, etc.) or control over the camera's settings (e.g. aperture, shutter, white balance, etc.). If you are serious about taking and selling celebrity photographs, you will have to purchase a camera equipped with a powerful zoom lens so you never miss out on great shots, near or far.

2. Conduct thorough research on your celebrities to photographAs they say, "If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail." You may hate this hackneyed phrase, but it still rings true when it comes to successfully taking celebrity pictures and selling celebrity photos. Begin your research by jumping online. A good place to start your online search is Google News. Use Google's advanced search features to narrow your results down to what is being said nearby and contains words that will appear in articles potentially chocked full of valuable clues pointing you in the direction of celebrity hotspots. Search for words like "Celebrity," "Star," "Movie," "Concert," "Musician," etc. The articles and events that turn up will help point you in the right direction to spot celebrities worthy of your camera's attention.

Remember that the most valuable pictures are those that contain rare subject matter, or weren't snappped by another celebrity photographer. In other words, it is advised to go to spots where celebrities might visit, but are not publicly scheduled to appear. Places like high-end vacation resorts, retail shops, spas and eateries are prone to luring in celebrities. If you're the only celebrity photographer present to snap their photograph, you will have a hot commodity.

Planning will help improve your chances of sighting a celebrity, but it's no guarantee. It is as much of an art as it is a science. One way to really get exclusive access to celebrities is to get a personal insider's tip, which brings us to our next step

3. Leverage relationships to get exclusive photographsCelebrities have huge networks of people that they know both personally and professionally. If you want to really make it as a member of the paparazzi photographing celebrities and selling your celebrity photos, you will need to leverage their vast networks and your relationships, new and old. Spread the word around that if others have a hot lead on where a celebrity is, or will be, to drop you a notification. Additionally, it helps to establish a rapport with local and national news and magazine publications as well as celebrity photo agencies who may deliver a tip for you to pursue. Paparazzi ninjas lean heavily on their connections to take unique celebrity photos and be able to sell them for money.

4. Plan the time and locationOkay, so you've done your research and identified a hotspot or two that you want to check out to shoot celebrity photos. Wonderful. Now, specifically scope and plan out the nooks and crannies that you will claim. It's one thing to take a celebrity photo from afar, but it's an entirely different thing to see them face-to-face and take a celebrity photo of a unique circumstance (thanks to your strategic timing and position). Arrive to events beforehand, scope out the territory and snag a spot to take your celebrity picture. If your plan isn't working as you envisioned, then adapt and move. Celebrities won't seek you out. Be the hunter, not the prey!

5. Respect celebrity privacy when taking and selling celebrity picturesPersonal celebrity photographs can be very valuable, but don't go overboard. Celebrities deserve your respect, which means not encroaching on their privacy. Celebrity photographs containing explicit content or taken on private property will not be purchased and published by large publications and you can be sued by celebrities for trespassing or stalking. Obsess over taking good celebrity photographs, but not at the expense of your reputation or in exchange for infuriating a star.

6. Hand off to celebrity photo agenciesOnce you take a few great pictures, then it is time to market and sell celebrity photographs. The best way to gain maximum exposure for your images is to submit them to the top celebrity photo agencies (e.g. SellCelebPhotos.com or MeettheFamous.com). These companies will accept your submission and market your photos to the most popular online and in-print publications like People Magazine, Time Magazine, TMZ, National Enquirer, etc. In exchange for marketing and negotiating top dollar for your celebrity photos, a celebrity photo agency will take a cut of the sales price (as low as 30% at SellCelebPhotos.com, but normally upwards of 70% of the celebrity photo selling price).

Remember that time is of the essence when it comes to selling celebrity photos. Upload your celeb photos as fast as you can in order to improve your chance of getting top dollar when you sell your celebrity pictures.

7. Review the terms and reap the rewards when selling celeb picsAlways be sure to review the terms and conditions before you agree to sell a celebrity photograph. Make sure that the celebrity photo agency clearly states who purchased your photograph, how it will be used, how much your photograph was sold for, the amount of money you will receive and when you will receive your earned compensation. Once everything checks out, ink the deal and congratulate yourself for a job well done - you've successfully demonstrated that you know how to sell celebrity photographs and you have the cash to prove it!
