Keeping Fit With Mixed Martial Arts - Business

Martial arts have been around since the time of man and each country has its own signature style of fighting. China is world famous for its Shaolin Kung Fu and Wing Chu style of fighting. Japan has produced the Ninjitsu form of fighting. The Ninja was one of the most feared and respected fighters in medieval Japan.

The Israeli fighting style known as Krav Maga is a relatively new form of martial arts and it was developed as one of the self-defense techniques for the army. Recently mixed martial arts have gained popularity around the world and many competitions are taking place. Fighters such as Randy Couture have gained a cult status.

Wing Chun Style

Wing Chun is a style which involves many trapping moves. Gaining control of the opponent's limbs is an essential part of this. Some of the combinations are deadly and it involves disabling the attackers blocking process. A series of punches, blasts and chops make up the Wing Chun Style. The main weapons in this style are the fists and the palms. wing chun techniques are all about striking first and not giving the opponent any space whatsoever.

Thai Boxing

Thai boxing or Muay Thai is all about the limbs. The idea is to take advantage of every part of the body including the knees, elbows and forehead. Thai boxing is a fast and rigorous style that requires intensive training. Fighters are usually placed on a steady diet that includes very little fat. Fighters are expected to remain purely muscular. Excess of muscle or fat can lead to slower movements which inhibits the style. A Thai slap kick or a knee kick would be akin to getting hit with a baseball bat.

Protecting the head is very important and fighters are expected to keep their hands as high as possible. A kick to the face from a professional fighter could very well shatter the cheek bone. The combos of this fighting style are extremely quick and one has to remain in a state of constant motion. Sometimes fighters keep one leg raised in order to protect their mid riff area. The training methods are very realistic and this enables the fighter to take care of himself in case he faces a real life threat.

Each of the self-defense techniques has their pros and cons. No style is better than the rest. The best style is the one that suits you the most.
