Advantages and Disadvantages of SLR Cameras - Shopping - Appliances

SLR cameras are generally better than the regular point and shoot cameras that most people are used to. Point and shoot cameras are known to come in handy whenever one wants to take unprofessional photos at home or somewhere else far from home. Most of such cameras are small in size and can easily fit into someone's shirt pockets therefore offering easy mobility. You have probably seen such cameras being used by unprofessional photographers in simple home parties and vacations. They are always cheap and many people actually own them. Digital SLR cameras are those that allow the photographer to change lenses in order to use the right lenses in shooting a particular photo. SLR simply stands for single lens reflex. Due to the fact that most gadgets and devices are going digital, SLR cameras have not been left behind for they too have a digital version know as digital single lens reflex (DSLR)

There are various advantages that Digital SLR cameras have that overweigh the advantages involved with the use of regular point and shoot cameras. One of the advantages is the fact that by using one of them, you are able to adjust the system to completely match your interest. For example if you always take time to photograph landscapes but all of a sudden due to some circumstances you find yourself with a responsibility of having to photograph small insects, the only thing you will have to do is to get a macro lens to help you with the shooting.

They also offer easy upgrading which can also be seen as an added advantage. a person is able to replace his or her camera's old lenses with new ones. This actually saves cost as you will not find yourself having to purchase a brand new camera just because the lens is experiencing old age. If an irresistible new stylish camera body hits the market, you won't have to worry about being with the latest style as you will only replace the old body with the new one and not having to buy the whole thing.

Another advantage that they have is that they use different standard of equipments which are easily available and can be purchased in nearby physical or online stores. Regular Point and shoot camera only comes with a flash and a standard lens.

SLR cameras are also known to have various disadvantages and one of them is the fact that they are relatively costly, heavier and bulkier and therefore not easy to carry around. Apart from that they are not optimized to be used by any Tom, Dick and Harry.

Another disadvantage associated with SLR cameras is their inability to photograph rapidly moving objects and have a clear resulting photo. As you know, a mirror has to flip before shots are taken so the resulting photos are not always from the exact time as seen before shooting. It may not make any different with still objects but will always affect high speed moving objects.
