Hunting Down Time - Outdoors - Hunting

Big game season for most hunters in America is only about one month if they're lucky. So what do hunters do with the other 11 months of out the year? Well besides sit and day dream about hunting when they should be working or when their wives are giving orders, we have websites, magazines and hunting clothes. In the last few years I've watched hunting become a way of life and it's become a lifestyle for sportsmen all year long.

There's camo for everything now from vehicle seat covers to bikinis to bed sheets (still trying to talk my wife into that one). Hunters don't like down time but we do our best to satisfy our obsession by visiting hunting forums, gawking at magazines, swapping stories, sending texts with pics of big bucks and bulls. Frankly I don't know what us sportsmen would do without our hunting forums and magazines.

One thing that helps me make it through down time between big game hunts is by going on other hunts that can be done year round, for example; coyote, rabbit, and grouse hunting can be done year round or at least 3 months out of the year.

I remember when I was between the ages of 15-18 I used to devour hunting magazines like a sumo wrestler at an all you can eat buffet. I had a stack of hunting magazines in my bedroom that was 3 feet high. My mom would tell me every year "why don't you throw those away." I would shake my head is disbelief cause to me that was blasphemy. Those magazines were sacred to me, I read them back to back many times over and learned a plethora of information on hunting.

So just that keep in mind come Dec and Jan of this year, make sure you have something that will satisfy your obsession until the next hunt rolls around.

Be safe and good hunting.
