Corbett Weekend Tour - Travel - Destinations

Erco Travels, the India tour operator, was established in 1998 in India. Erco offers holiday breaks in a number of beautiful locations, including a range of all-inclusive Rajasthan holidays, holidays to Kerala and Wildlife safaris as well as a host of memorable experiences such as tracking in Himalaya and Ladkah. The companys Authentic Experiences enable travellers to do as the locals do or learn from experts in their field.

Watch out for tigers now whispered the Erco guide after spotting fresh tiger pug marks. With thumping hearts we strained and stretched our ears and eyes to the maximum to catch any sound, or any sight of the majestic animal, while the words of Erco briefing to keep as quiet as possible kept ringing in our ears.

And lo behold! There it was drinking water. The sudden excitement that ripped past the group was palpable. Cameras zoomed into action. Parents tugged their kids towards the sight, ensuring they didnt miss the sighting. After all such is the excitement of spending a weekend in Corbett. Undoubtedly the weekend zooms past and the lingering feeling of awe and respect for the creativity of nature leaves one talking about it for days.

What is Corbett?

Corbett is the first wildlife reserve of India that was established in 1936 as the Hailey National Park. This name was first changed into Ramganga National Park in 1955-56 and finally to Jim Corbett National Park in the honor of the legendary hunter-turned- conservationist, best known for hunting man-eating tigers and leopards in the Kumaon and lower Garhwal in the 1920s.

This national park is a Project Tiger site and is a part of the nine tiger reserves included in the Project Tiger. The other main wildlife animals found in the Park are the majestic elephant, spirited chital and sambar, sturdy blue bull, sun-basking gharial, illusive king cobra and many others like muntjac, wild boar, hedgehog, common musk shrew, flying fox, Indian Pangolin, and nearly 600 species of birds.

When to visit Corbett?Though the Corbett National Park remains open throughout the year for the visitors from Jhrina zone, other zones like Bijarani and Dhikala get operational in specific times of year. For example Bijarani zone gets operational from mid October, where as the core area of the national park in Dhikala zone gets operational from 15th of November.

It is essential to understand the reason why these areas remain close is primarily because during the monsoons most of the roads get washed away and it takes some time for the forest department to get them operational. But in general there are three well-defined seasons to visit Corbett:

Winter: November to February Summer: March to June Monsoon: July to October

Of all these, the best time to visit Corbett is from 15th November to 15th June because during this time all the tourism zones of Corbett are open for visitors and one can visit the entire national park area.

So get in touch with Erco Travels and get the booking done for this weekend itself as besides watching the animals there is so much to do. Indulge in fishing and angling, elephant or jeep safari and go back totally rejuvenated.
