Rules For Hunting With Night Vision - Sports

Night vision can be very helpful when you are hunting, but you need to make sure that you do not break the law. If you do, you could face a large fine from the DNR officer who catches you. If an accident occurs while you are breaking the law and someone is hurt, you could even face jail time because you will be responsible for a very dangerous situation that could have led to someone's death. Even if no one has died, the courts are quite strict about the laws. The following are a few things to remember when using this tactical equipment.

1. You Can Use It To Get To Your Blind

You want to go to your blind about an hour before the sun comes up. This way, any game that you scare off on the way in will have forgotten about you. Since it will be so dark at this time, this is when you really need to use the goggles.

2. You Cannot Shoot Before Daylight Has Arrived

Once you are in your blind, you can use the goggles to watch the forest. You can see where the game is located and you can chart the paths that animals are taking through the trees. However, you cannot use the goggles to help you shoot before the sun comes up.

3. You Cannot Shoot After Dark

Likewise, you are not allowed to shoot once the sun has gone back down at the end of the day. You may be tempted to do so if you have been sitting around for a long time without seeing anything, but you are not legally permitted to do this.

4. You Can Use It To Leave Your Blind

In the same way that you used the goggles to get to your blind, you can use them to leave. Just do not stop and shoot at any game that you see.

5. Do Not Use It When The Sun Is Up

This is not a rule, but more of a warning. You should not use the goggles when the sun is up. They are designed to gather all of the light when the sun is down, so they will amplify the actual sunlight to the point that it can be very hard to see.

If you remember everything that is written above, you will be within the confines of the law while you are hunting. Night vision is not a type of tactical equipment that is designed to allow you to hunt when others cannot. It is designed so that you can be safe while you are getting to and from your blind. This can help to reduce hunting accidents and injuries.
