In the ultra fast paced, jet setting, high glamour world of fashion modeling, anything and everything is done and more to ensure that the final end product, the photo shoot, the video shoot or the ramp way fashion modeling gig goes smoothly. From the Portuguese's 'Desenrascanco', the word they use to describe the art of slapping together a solution to a problem at the last minute, with no advanced planning, and no resources, miracles in the fashion world are performed at a daily basis. The word literally means "to disentangle" yourself out of a bad situation and having been around long enough to see what goes on behind the curtains, it is a wonder that models can actually come out and strut their way down the ramp with confidence in front of the flashing lights and discerning stares of the public. For instance with the numerous hair, make up and clothes changes in any given photo or video shoot, a model must be wearing at least four or five sets from the box of bulk hair ex tensions that they keep in the back, maybe more. From the fashion directors, to the producers and the art directors, they all have input on the best hair extensions that the models should wear during the production.Talking about hair extensions, even those contribute to the chaos of the photo shoot. The many styles of hair extensions wigs to choose from are plentiful from the latest European hair weft fad to Asian, American or Russian hair extensions, just choosing which ones to use in a particular shoot will overwhelm you, much less to keep track of all of them on the night itself. Most of the time, models are thrown out into the public eye with a prayer that their ensemble doesn't fall apart for the duration that they are out there. It's a fair assessment considering that sometimes their wigs and dresses are barely put together with adhesive tape and staples. While some people pride themselves with a healthy dose of desenrascanco and can seal the deal with a few nuts and bo lts and a lot of adhesive tape, and in my opinion it is absolutely needed in this line of work, there are some out there, the rock of any production, who has slaved and toiled throughout several sleepless nights just to get everything ready for the shoot. They count for something too. In the end, it is the final product that does matter. If the models look good and the camera loves them and most importantly, the people love them, then it is all that matters.
