Rules and Regulations on Deer Hunting - Hobbies

There are many rules that have been established in regard of deer hunting. Hunting is still a common sport however, with all the rules and regulations in place, hunters now know where their limits lie as well. This helps the government to maintain control over the deer population as well. Every state in the country has a certain number of deer, and thus in order to maintain a hold over the population and numbers, each state takes out its regulations and resolutions as to how to protect them as well. Thus every hunting season, hunters need to keep in mind all the new resolutions that have been passed in order to enjoy the sport without getting into any kind of trouble.

Changes in Rules and Regulations:

Many changes keep taking place in the way the resolutions and laws are passed against hunting. For example, in 2009, the hunting dates for muzzleloaders and antlers switched. Not only were these but there many other significant changes that took place over the years regarding hunting. One of them stated that in order to be the owner of hunting permits, hunters needed to be at least six years old, or have six years of experience with the sport. The landowner of the particular piece of land also had to be at least eighteen years old in order to maintain a permit.

They might also need to have hunting certificates which prove their excellence in the sport. They need to produce this particular degree to the government in order to be able to hunt.

Hunting Rules:

Many other states established their own hunting rules. For example, in Missouri, a rule called the four point rule was established. This rule states that the deer that is being hunted needs to have at least four points of target within an inch each in order for the hunter to shoot.

Mostly, deer have antler growth only after becoming three years old. The advantage in such a situation is that bucks require more time for their antlers to grow and reach the age of maturity. This also is a challenge for hunters because older bucks are harder to kill.
