Ram Hunting - Sports

Like many of you I have been hunting various animals for years. Until recently I had never had the chance to hunt a Ram and after I did this year I must say I was impressed. I had no Idea how the Ram was hunted and I was surprised to find they act much like a whitetail deer. Often you can find Rams in small flocks and they have a tendency to take shifts eating. In my case three rams would eat and a fourth would watch the tree line for movement. They seemed to take turns and were very skittish. A ram has very keen eyesight and their hearing was excellent. These intelligent Creatures are a very challenging hunt and worth the time that it takes to stalk them. I had thought a lot about the Ram hunt before I went out for the hunt and found there were actually a great many types of Ram to hunt. Here is the listing I found of types of Ram.Aoudad Ram - The Aoudad sheep are sometimes called the Barbary sheep. These sheep are actually quite larger than you might think. They weigh 8 8 to 310 lbs. These are sandy brown in color and they darken with age, with a slightly lighter underbelly and a darker line on their back. These Rams have a huge set of horns and make a great mount. Barbarossa Ram - The Barbarossa have horns not antlers which do not shed and continue to grow their whole life. The Males have horns that can weigh 30 pounds this is heavier than all the bones in his body combined. The meat is eatable and actually very tasty. The Ram has a magnificent wool coat that you can turn into a beautiful wool blanket or Rug. The Horns also make a great trophy and the horns can be made to be a shofar. Corsican Ram - The Corsican Ram can weigh between 130 and 160 pounds. Many people like these rams as they closely resemble The Dal sheep in Alaska. The Corsican Ram meat is very tasty once marinated and many people actually think it tastes much like Beef. The Corsican does not have a wooly coat and the hide is much like a white tail. Texas Dall - This breed o f Ram is solid white and the Horns have been breed to be very large and spiral. These rams are actually in the weight range of 120 to 150. The white coat is more hair like than wool and very fine. Some people use the belly hair for making flys for fishing. After doing some research I spoke to my main counselor on such things, my three year old daughter. She looked at all the pictures and decided she wanted the Barbarossa Ram as she really wanted to have the coat. This wool coat turned out to be five inches thick of wool and beautiful. The blanket that we have made from this is great for her to cuddle on or under. I found that I really liked the hunt and will suggest any one to try it.
