Self Protection - 7 Reasons For Learning How to Use the Kubotan - A Self Defense Keychain Weapon - Sports - Martial Arts

Are you serious about learning real-world self defense? Do you want to be able to use a weapon that, for the most part, is easy to learn, legal, and very effective? If so, then this article is for you.

This article outlines 7 reasons that you should consider adding the Kubotan (pronounced: "koo-bow-tahn:), or self defense keychain weapon to your arsenal of skills. And, while the weapon itself may be prohibited in many areas - including but not limited to carrying it on a commercial aircraft - it can still serve as a model for using other, similar, everyday objects that are just like it.

Here are 7 reasons to learn the Kubotan, self defense keychain:

1) It's small and easily concealed. Because the kubotan can be as simple as a wooden dowel, or in it's commercially available form made from steel or turned aircraft aluminum, it is often overlooked as a weapon. Whether carried in the open or not, the small size of this powerful weapon makes it easy to conceal, only to be brought out at just the right time to teach the attacker that not all targets are "victims!" 2) It's stronger than using your fingers alone. Since the Kubotan is made of wood or metal, it has a greater effectiveness when striking the assailant's body than your fingers. Regardless of how strong or weak your fingers and joints are, the Kubotan's hard, inflexible nature, make it a great choice, especially against larger, stronger attackers. 3) It's always with you. Okay, that may be a stretch. But, having the weapon double as a keychain seriously increases the likelihood that you will have it in your hand, or at least someplace close, should you be attacked in, around, or near your vehicle. 4) It can give you a surprise advantage. If you can learn the art of patience and add a bit of strategic thinking, you can add a lot of power and effectiveness to this weapon by NOT brandishing it too early in the fight. Keep it concealed, hanging from your belt, or covered by your hand until the perfect moment when, out of nowhere, you surprise your attacker with strikes, jabbing attacks, and crushing pressure that can't possibly come from your small hands! 5) It doesn't require years of practice to master. Unlike other weapons, the basics of the Kubotan can be learned very quickly. And, there's never a concern about running out of bullets, or being cut by your own weapon as you have with guns and knives. 6) Learning how to use the Kubotan also allows you to use everyday items. Regardless of whether the laws of your area permit the use of the Kubotan self defense keychain or not, learning it's concepts and principles also allows you to empl oy everyday items such as: Screwdrivers TV remote controls Cell phones etc.

7) It's a non-lethal alternative to other weapons. Unlike other weapons, such as guns and knives, which could be used for self defense......the Kubotan does not force you into a situation where you must use lethal force to protect yourself.

Unlike the knife where you might be limited to only stabbing or cutting, and unlike the Gun where you must shoot the attacker - the Kubotan self defense weapon can be a more passive, and compassionate tool for deterring an attacker, and convincing him that he should find an easier target!

Effective self defense requires more than just a few "karate moves." It involves the ability to think strategically, and understand how to defend yourself with as little wear-and-tear on you as possible. For more information on what you MUST know to survive a real street attack, read my newest self defense book: "Fight Smarter - Not Harder!"
