If you're planning a hunting trip, you'll want to consider some of these top 10 hunting spots.

No. 1 Alaska, Big Game Hunting - Alaska is known for its world-class hunting. In Alaska, you can hunt bison, caribou, elk, muskox and even grisly bears. Hunting opportunities spread across 365 million acres. That is an area one-fifth the size of the entire United States.

No. 2 Colorado, San Luis Valley National Wildlife Refuge - You'll find the snowcapped Sangre de Cristo Mountains inspiring as you hunt 7,800 feet above sea level. It's a great spot for hunting birds, waterfowl and beavers. You'll want to make sure to pack plenty of gear for this rugged terrain.

No. 3 Newfoundland, Canada - There is probably no better place for rugged hunting than at Deer Lake in Newfoundland. Newfoundland is an island located in Eastern Canada. There, you can hunt Moose, Caribou and Black Bear. You won't find a better place to hunt in untouched land than in Newfoundland, Canada.

No. 4 Cook Station, Missouri - You have to visit the High Adventure Ranch in Missouri. This is a great spot for big game hunts. On the ranch's grounds, you can hunt elk, wild boar, deer, buffalo and exotic rams. The ranch's primary hunting season is September 1 through March 31.

The park has lots of swamps and creeks, so it may be difficult to access certain parts of the park at different times of the year. Overall though, the park provides lots of great hunting throughout the year.

No. 8 Texas, Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge - This is a great spot to hunt waterfowl during the hunting season. The park is home to more than 40,000 snow geese. Located near the greater Houston area, it's a great spot to hunt at in Texas.

No. 9 California, Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge - If you're in California, the Lower Klamath is an ideal spot to hunt waterfowl and pheasant. This refuge annually produces between 30,000 and 60,000 waterfowl. While you're hunting, you'll be able to take in some great sites and possibly see a bald eagle. These are obviously off limits for hunters.

No. 10 Vermont, Missisquoi National Wildlife Refug. - If you're a bird hunter in the Northeast, there's no better place than the Missisquoi Wildlife Refuge. This park has more than 6,500 acres. There, you can hunt waterfowl, upland game and deer. It's a great place to take family and friends on a hunting trip.

No matter where you hunt, make sure that you are properly prepared with the right gear and equipment. If you're planning on driving, make sure your truck has a fiberglass truck lid or a truck topper to protect your gear from theft and bad weather.
