The Evolution of Leupold Rifle Scopes

Rifle scopes were first created because they were a necessity that the world did not yet have. They began coming into the picture when people started fastening telescopes to their rifles in order to see further. This did not achieve the affect that hunters wanted because it was too basic.

The first building of attempted rifle scopes can be dated back to the 1830s, but it wasn't until 1880 that the first effective one was actually built. Later in 1907, Fred Leupold, a German immigrant, opened a shop up in Oregon where he focused on repairing survey equipment. Many years later, he encountered an inventor named John Stevens, which led to the renowned rifle scope company, "Leupold and Stevens, Inc.".

The company trudged through World War I and the Great Depression, but the business didn't really take off until World War II. The Leupold engineers were able to work with the US Army and Navy to learn the secrets to durable waterproofing and constructing for their own optics. This changed the company forever.

With over 100 years of experience, Leupold and Stevens, Inc. is still up and running today. They reside in another part of Oregon with over 600 employees. Every single optic is designed, made, and tested by the Leupold engineers inside of this facility. The best materials known to mankind are the only materials used for production and are required by the engineers in every step of the process.

Not only does Leupold and Stevens, Inc. offer rifle scopes, but they also offer a line of spotting scopes and binoculars. Their line of rifle scopes is diverse and includes both fixed and variable powers, as well as various types of reticles. Every product they offer is intended to last for a lifetime, which is backed up with a lifetime warranty.

Recently, Leupold and Stevens, Inc. has issued a warning to its customers about counterfeit Leupold scopes that are being illegally imported from China. These imitations are alarmingly similar to genuine Leupold scopes, which makes them hard to tell apart. The only way to verify the authenticity is to take it in to headquarters or to have the serial number verified by phone. If someone were to be sold a fake reproduction of a Leupold scope, they unfortunately could not get it serviced by Leupold since it was not actually produced by them.

Leupold and Stevens, Inc. set, maintain, and constantly exceed the standard for optic manufacturing. Their optics are known world-wide for their durability, ability to withstand water, and their outstanding optical quality. The Leupold brand is one of most, if not the most, trustworthy, valued, and well-known brands in the world of outdoors and hunting.
